ENTOTO MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE
Entoto Mountains, also known as Entoto Hills, are allocated at the north of Addis Ababa. The area approximately covers 1,300 hectares and it is a protected natural park. The highest peak reaches 3,200 meters above sea level. The park is covered by dense eucalyptus forest and it is commonly referred as the lung of Addis Ababa.
Entoto is known to be natural training place for most fun runners and professional athletes . It is also considered as a historical place, where Emperor Menelik II resided and later founded the current capital, Addis Ababa. Most locals believe that Entoto is a sacred mountain with a number of beautiful monasteries and churches.
Entoto Mountain Challenge is a fun run for adults and children in Entoto mountain range. The adult run has three distances (5km, 12km and 21km). For children (age (4-14 years) there are several courses appropriate to these age groups. The youngest will run a course of about 400m, whilst children 10 years and over will run a course of 2km.
The course will be well marked, and there will be water stops and aid stations along the running trails. You will need to carry any additional fluids that you require.
The first edition race will be held on 20th January at 9:00 AM. Participants are expected to arrive at race venue at latest at 8:00AM.
All participants will get T-Shirt and hand-made medal, and there will be prizes also for the winners.
